Services 1- Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils (extracts or essences) from flowers, herbs, and trees are used in gentle massage to promote freedom from stress and encourage relaxation.  Fragrant essential oils enrich your life, whether they are used thereapeutically in beauty treatment and/or for sheer pleasure.
Aromatherapy and Massage is the ideal complement to conventional medicine. It does not replace the family physician or the necessary medications or surgery one may require at certain times, however it does allow the person to assume more responsibility for their own body, health and well-being.
Aromatherapy has been used through the ages to heal the sick, to beautify the skin, in culinary preparations and to balance the body, mind and spirit.  They were using herbal medicine in Dordogne region of France in 18,000 BC. The Egyptians used essential oils to embalm their dead and the Romans as a substitute for exercise to counteract the effects of over-drinking and over-eating.
The present rebirth of aromatherapy is largely due to the work of Gattefosse, a French chemist who discovered the healing properties of lavender by accident when he burned his hand and dipped it into a container of lavender.
It has been scientifically proven that the olfactory system is connected to the limbic system, the part of the brain where emotional responses reside. Scent has the power to generate the biochemical’s that promote positive states of mind and the properties of oils work as adaptogens, meaning they provide what curative properties your body requires.
Specific oils have been proven useful in treatment of various conditions because your body absorbs the oils through your largest organ – your skin.  Some oils will stimulate your circulatory system, while others will generate a state of deep relaxation.  Essential oils are antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal and antiseptic.
Today many people, suffer from stress related ailments caused by their work environment, financial problems and/or personal difficulties as well arthritis, back problems, muscle aches and pains, headaches, colds and sinuses, skin disorders, depression, asthma and digestive problems.  People are finding not only physical relief, but also mental, emotional and spiritual relief through aromatherapy and massage.
Aromatherapy massage is one of the most effective anti-stress treatments available today.  Deep relaxation with a soothing massage to release tension, combined with the therapeutic benefits of the essential oils has a profound influence on the countless stress related condition.
Essential oils can be used individually, but a blend of different fragrant oils is more likely to have a positive therapeutic effect because aromatic mixtures are generally perceived as being more pleasant.
Although aromatherapy is normally associated with aromatherapy massage it can also be used by inhalation, bath, compress, cream/lotion, moisturizer, burner, shampoo/conditioner, but the most effective way is by means of a luxurious, gentle, relaxing, full-body massage.
‘Fragrant Essential Oils enrich your life, whether they are used therapeutically in beauty treatment, to perfume the home or for sheer pleasure.  But when the oils are combined with massage their effectiveness in relieving Stress, inducing relaxation, increasing energy, improving moods, promoting good health and restoring lost balance to the mind, body and soul is most striking’.

Service 3 – REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is a form of ’alternative’ or ’complementary’ medicine and involves a method of treatment using massage to reflex areas found in the feet and hands. Reflexology helps nature achieve Homeostasis and it also prevents many medical conditions and symptoms.
Dr William H. Fitzgerald, a US ear, and nose and throat specialist as practised today introduced reflexology in 1915.  Known at the time as ‘Zone Therapy’, it was based on the theory that energy flows – vertical zones through the body, from the head to the feet, and pressure applied to a reflex point on the foot can affect all the organs, glands, bones and muscles in the Zone.  Foot massage has been practiced for centuries by using the thumb and fingers on reflex areas, which improves blood supply and promotes the unblocking of nerve impulses; relieves stress and tension, but Reflexologists believe that it can do more than simply aid relaxation.
According to Reflexologists, the feet and hands are mirror of the body and pressure placed on specific reflex points can be used to treat the corresponding areas of the body in order to stimulate natural healing powers and promote well-being.
The therapy has become popular around the world and is often used in conjunction with Aromatherapy or Naturopathy.   Reflexology is a natural and relaxing treatment and it is based on the discovery that there are points on the feet which correspond to organs, systems and structures within the entire body.   A Reflexologist uses special pressure techniques to stimulate the points on the feet to detect any imbalances and effectively treat them to restore balance and well-being.
